    How much does Staff Monkey cost?

    That's a great question! We currently offer 2 services for staff: HTML email newsletters and a paper newsletter printing service.

    Our email service fee is $25 per month; you can send as often as you'd like and we do all the graphic and design work for you!

    Our paper newsletter printing service breaks down like this for email customers:
    -> 1-sided color $0.45/ copy plus postage
    -> 2-sided color $0.60/ copy plus postage
    -> 1 BRE insert FREE
    -> Additional inserts $0.10/ insert

    If you aren't an email customer the price is the same but we charge you an additional $25 per mailing.

    If your organization is setup to send bulk mail you can probably qualify for that rate too (see below for more details).

    We do not offer black and white copies. Or copies on colored paper. And that's because we love you.

    If you are a church or organization and not an individual please email us for more specific pricing.

    Is there an initial set-up cost?

    Of course not! We've never understood why [FILL IN BUSINESS NAME HERE] needs $99 to "process" our application and we are betting neither have you. So no, Staff Monkey won't be "that guy".

    Just contact us! We will walk you through the set-up process. Its very simple and won't take that long. We can answer all of your other questions then too.

    Staff Monkey will design a custom template for you and your parent organization. We have many staff from a variety of organizations already, so contact us and we'll show you some examples.

    Will I get to see the final product before it’s sent to my donors?

    YES!! You will receive a draft of both your email newsletter as well as your paper newsletter (if you need one) for you to review before we send it off. Once we have your OK it's off to the races!

    How do I get signed up for bulk-rate?

    Many parent organizations are already signed up for non-profit bulk-rate and are open to letting their staff use it through a mailing service like Staff Monkey! Contact us if you are interested in getting up and running with bulk-rate for your paper newsletters.

    Are there any "catches" to using bulk-rate postage for my mailings?

    YES!! There are several catches. Among them:

    -> You must send more than 200 letters to qualify
    -> You will be charged around $0.50 / returned letter from the USPS
    -> There is no postage stamp, the postage is printed directly on the envelope (some might not consider this a "catch", but...)

    What if I don't have 200 paper newsletters to send out and I still want to use bulk-rate?

    You'll need to wait until someone else from YOUR organization sends out an update so we can reach 200 letters.

    For those of you concerned by this, we suggest getting together as a ministry team (your local staff team, area, region, whatever) and send your newsletters out the same week, that way you won't see any delay.

    What is the turn around time for each of these services?

    After we receive your newsletter you'll hear from us within 2 business days with your drafts. Usually sooner. After we get your OK, the emails will be sent out immediately and your paper newsletters will go out within a business day (2 if we are slammed).

    In what format can I send you my update?

    For your email updates, a text file plus any pictures you want included works best. A MS Word document works too, but again, we'll need the pictures attached separately because MS Word doesn't like to share or place nice with others.

    For your paper newsletters, if we have your template on file we can use the same text document and pictures as your email update. If you have your own template you want to use we need it in .pdf format.

    Why .pdf for my paper newsletters?

    Because a .pdf document will look the same on your computer as it does ours. A MS Word document, or any other, will change across versions and operating systems.

    How can I send you my newsletter in .pdf?

    Every Mac running Mac OS X can produce .pdf documents. Just open your newsletter and select print. In the following dialog box look for the "PDF" menu and select "Save as PDF..."

    On a Windows machine its not nearly as easy. If you have Office 2007 you can download this free plugin from Microsoft. If not, contact us and we'll give you the sad news with a banana.

    Do you think its better to send paper or paperless communication to my supporters?

    At Staff Monkey we believe paper or paperless ISN'T as important as length, quality and frequency. In fact, there are advantages to using both in your communication with supporters.

    Having said that, we do think there are real advantages to sending out email updates.

    First, how much more time do you spend with your email each day than you do with your regular mail? It's no different for your donors.

    Second, email offers an interactive quality that your paper newsletters can't achieve. When was the last time someone returned your paper newsletter with a note of their own? It happens now and then, but it's not common. With your email newsletters, it's not uncommon to get several responses from supporters per update!

    Third, email gives you powerful tools like tracking who opens your emails (and who doesn't) and who is clicking on what links (to say nothing of the fact that you can HAVE links).

    And finally, email is immediate. Got a weekend conference you want prayer for starting on Friday and it's Thursday morning? Your email will get there on time.

    OK, I want to get more of my supporters signed up to receive paperless newsletters, what's next?

    If you already send your donors emails then all you'll need to do is send us a Microsoft Excel file with their email, first name and last name. If you aren't sending them emails yet, you need to ask them if you can start. Send them a self-addressed, stamped postcard. Call them. Or we can even create an online sign-up form for you where your donors can go and sign themselves up - it's very easy!

    What are the advantages of using Staff Monkey as opposed to doing it myself?

    The biggest advantage is time! You'll actually get to spend more time doing what you signed up to do as opposed to spending a weekend every month to send out an update! No more folding, stuffing, sticking and licking. I'd almost say that's priceless... but I won't.

    We also make sure your updates LOOK GREAT. We will help you with your graphic and design work and offer you only prime choices (no black and white over hot pink paper at Staff Monkey).

    We offer you tools, like tracking your email opens and clicks, at an affordable price.
